Commercial Building Inspector/Plans Examiner 

​This 15-week course will cover several areas the 2015 International Building Code including: Use & Occupancy Classification, Types of Construction, Building Height and Area, including a Height and Area Calculation, Fire and Smoke Protection, Means of Egress, Fire Protection Systems, as well as train the student in the application, use and intent during the plan review process.

2014 National Electric Code- Commercial Electrical Inspector (E2) & Electrician Class


The 12-week course, 2014 National Electrical Code® - Commercial Electrical Inspector (E2)and Electrician class, will introduce students to the fundamental code requirements for proper installation of electrical systems in commercial buildings as well as industrial buildings. 
This test preparation class will provide students with the foundation for a thorough educational background in order to have the right resources for a successful ICC test-taker. The instructor will identify and discuss working knowledge of code requirements for general requirements, services, bonding & grounding, wiring methods, hazardous locations, health care, swimming pools and more. 

The class will also include an array of practice quizzes, study guides, multiple timed comprehensive exams, and an expanded guide of applicable code sections pertinent for the final exam. All Students will be encourage to test for ICC Commercial Inspector (E2).

​​2015 Residential Building Inspector Certification Class


Start/End Dates: September 5 - December 5, 2018
Time: 6pm-9pm
Description:

This 15-week training class will cover several areas the 2015 International Residential Building Code including: administration, building planning, construction and energy conservation. Practical application of the code, prescriptive design and common mistakes will be discussed.

Learning Objectives: 

Students successfully completing the Commercial Building Inspector Certification class will:
· Identify applicability and the extent of code requirements
· Develop the skills to identify violations during inspections
· Locate a building on a site and determine the required fire protection features. Determine any special requirements when dealing with multiple structures
·Determine specific requirements based on geographical location and climate zones
· Examine issues related to exiting, light & ventilation, construction in flood prone areas, and basic sanitation
· Understand different typical methods of construction including wood & metal frame, masonry, SIP and poured in place concrete. Be able to determine when engineered design is required
· Determine requirements relating to energy efficient construction and systems

This class will prepare the student to sit for the 2015 Residential Building Inspector certification exam.

2015 International Property Maintenance Code

This 10-week course will discuss the philosophy, attitudes and values surrounding property maintenance, photographs, previously encountered situations, and utilizing drawings as demonstration and teaching points on code requirements in support of community preservation.

Topics discussed during the course include: the minimum requirements for plumbing, mechanical, and basic fire safety systems; procedures for administration of property maintenance programs based on data resulting from both well-defined and poorly managed municipalities; methods of verifying citizen complaints, gathering evidence, issuing violation notices, verifying compliance and steps taken when compliance has not been obtained, and discuss the adjudication process, the importance of preparation prior to the adjudication hearings, items of evidence, and the significance of proper record keeping.

The class will also include an array of practice tests, and multiple timed comprehensive exams. All Students will be encouraged to test for ICC Property Maintenance & Housing Inspector Certification. (64).
